About

Hi, I’m Marisa!

I’m a designer based in the Philadelphia / New Jersey area.

For the past eight years, I’ve been designing books at HarperCollins Publishers, working on everything from covers to interiors and collaborating with editors, art directors, and production teams along the way. Some books I’ve worked on have landed on The New York Times bestseller list, Amazon’s Movers & Shakers list, and in the Society of Illustrators Annual Illustration show.

Working in publishing has given me a deep love for typography and visual storytelling, and I’m interested in how design can make information feel clear, engaging, and easy to connect with.

I studied Illustration at Syracuse University, where I earned my BFA with a minor in Communications in snowy upstate New York. These days, I’m continuing my education through a Communications Design Certificate at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where I’ve been expanding my practice into digital design, UX, branding, and visual communication systems.

Outside of design, I’m a practicing artist and am happiest when I’m making something or getting outside. I paint landscapes outdoors in acrylic and watercolor, and I’m always looking for an excuse to go hiking, camping, or take a road trip to a National Park.
